May 2026 at Anart: stronger protection and faster servers
May was a month of security and stability — we strengthened the sites’ defence, moved clients to a newer and faster server and, alongside that, published a record 14 releases of the Anart Web platform.
Security — stronger defence against automated attacks
Most of the traffic that “attacks” sites today comes from automated bots, not from people. In May we completed a system that recognises and blocks them before they do any damage.
- Automatic blocking of overload — when someone starts “flooding” a site with hundreds of requests, the system now temporarily blocks them on its own. That applies to ordinary visits and to form submission attempts (the spammers’ favourite target).
- Detecting fake Google bots — attackers often pretend to be Google to pass unnoticed. We now check whether a bot really is Google: real search engines pass without trouble, fakes get blocked.
- Protecting sensitive paths — extra filters for known attack patterns, so abuse attempts are stopped early.
- A whitelist for real bots — legitimate services (Google, Bing and the like) are whitelisted, so the stronger protection never hurts your site’s visibility in search engines.
Stability — newer servers and a watchful eye over everything
In parallel we worked on making sites faster and on catching problems before clients do.
Moving to a newer server. During May we moved a larger number of client sites from an older to a newer server, with a more modern version of PHP (the language the sites run on). In practice: faster loading and a more reliable infrastructure in the long run.
Closer monitoring.
- Automatic error reporting — if a site starts returning an error, it now shows up in the daily report, so we react before you notice.
- Uptime monitoring — we introduced an extra tool that continuously checks whether sites and services are reachable.
Anart Web — a new foundation, new effects, faster pages
Our site-building tool got 14 releases in a month (versions 1.13 to 1.25) — the most so far. Beyond a host of small improvements, a few things stand out.
A refreshed foundation
We started moving the platform to the latest stable foundation (Drupal 10) and a more modern text editor. The Anart Web platform itself has already been moved and is currently in testing. From now on we build every new Drupal site on the new foundation, and gradually move the existing ones. That means a longer support life, better security and easier maintenance.
New content effects
- “Typewriter” — text is written out letter by letter, handy for headings and calls to action.
- “Counter” — numbers animate as they “count” upwards (e.g. “1,200 happy clients”).
Faster pages
- Smarter loading of images and sliders — the first image loads with priority, so the page feels faster at first sight.
More freedom in design
- We continued modernising the styles, so colours, spacing and the look of blocks adapt more easily to each client’s brand — faster and cheaper design adaptation.
More security
- Protection from accidental mistakes — we built in a guard that prevents data from a test copy of a site from accidentally overwriting the site visitors see. Less risk for your site’s content.
May in one sentence: stronger defence, faster servers and a platform that got a record number of improvements.
