January 2026 at Anart: passwordless login and less spam on your site
We are starting monthly news. Every month we will talk about what we did — no technical jargon, just what makes a difference for your site. We begin with January: passwordless login, better spam protection and an improved webshop.
Web platform
Passwordless login (OTP)
- A new way to log in — the user enters their email, receives a one-time code, and is in. No passwords to remember, no “I forgot my password” frustration.
- The whole process is translated and adapted to the site’s languages — including Serbian and Montenegrin.
- The CAPTCHA hides after the first successful solve in the same session — less friction for users who have already proven they are real.
Better spam protection
- We added support for Cloudflare Turnstile and reCAPTCHA v3 — modern anti-spam services that bother real users less than the classic “click all the traffic lights” kind.
- Math CAPTCHA (a simple arithmetic check) stays as a backup for users who do not want JavaScript or third parties.
- We removed the SpamSpan module — an outdated tool for protecting email addresses from bot harvesters; modern and more reliable solutions exist.
Improved webshop
- Clearer discounts and coupons — they now show in the cart, on the user’s profile and in order notification emails.
- A unified email system for orders — all commerce emails (confirmation, invoicing, status) go through one system that guarantees reliable delivery and a consistent look.
- Fixed visual issues with coupons when forms do not use floating labels.
Behind the scenes
- Less jQuery dependency — the cart button in the site header now uses the modern core/once API instead of jQuery. Less JavaScript code, faster loading.
- SEO fix — we added a noindex meta tag for faceted navigation pages so search engines do not spend their budget on duplicate filter URLs.
- Updated all contrib modules to the latest stable versions.
Infrastructure
Hosting
- We added a new site to our Drupal hosting platform — Pro-MB.
January in one sentence: passwordless login, better spam protection, a more modern foundation — and the first issue of the monthly news.
